QR Discount (Require Members)
Now teams can make a QR Code discount that requires loyalty membership for redemption. The primary use case is to have an offer that limits the number of redemptions per person.
Example, provide a QR discount to a social media influencer to post. Allow Max 50 redemptions, and max 1 per member.
Limits can be restricted by Max redemptions (lifetime) or Daily or Weekly.
Another example is a "Free Drink" card that is printed and has a QR. In the past, an individual could take 5 cards and use them all. Now, the discounts can be configured to 1 redemption per loyalty member.
QR Code Discounts for Items or Orders
How about improving your ground game and increasing local demand to your stores. A fast way would be to simply PRINT a QR on a card and have customers bring that in for redemption. Or what if you want to post a discount QR to your Instagram and have your followers flash the QR to redeem? Scannable QR Discount codes are your answer.
Overview
Create any kind of item or order discount, then print it on a card or add it to social media.
When a customer shows a QR, just tap the Scan Discount Code button!
How to configure QR Discounts
In the Web Admin (either HQ or Local) create/edit a discount, check the "Sharable QR Code" box and press save
Then a QR code has been created for the discount that you can print, or share on instagram or anywhere you like.
You can also create a discount with a QR and mark "do not display on register." The discount QR can be scanned but it won't clutter your discounts section. This allows you to create as many different QR code discounts as you like and still have a normal set of tappable discounts displayed to cashier!
Getting Started
As described above, the QR is generated by Touchpoint and relates to a discount in the system. So to use this feature, Create a discount in the web admin like normal.
Now there’s a QR code available for that discount. You can download or print that QR.
Scanning the QR Discount has the same effect as the cashier pushing a discount button.
Try in your lab first
Set up a QR discount in your lab, (locally, or synced), and save the generated QR (or print it out) from the web admin.
Do an order and press the scan button.
Focus camera on printed or save pic of the QR. Ding! discount applied.
Other best practices
These discounts do not have any technical restrictions on how many times any particular user can redeem them. So do not give away a big discount via social media unless you want already active users to redeem continuously and take margin. (Also ripe for fraud)
Always put expiration dates on QR discounts so they don’t run forever
Experimenting with restricting discount by Item, size, time of day, day of week etc to gain have that operational capacity.
And in any public communication, include restriction terms.
Be Aware: in this release, the QR Code Discount is not connected to a user's loyalty account so it cannot be configured with per-user limits on redemption.
