A Brands HQ should use the Wages & Tips report to pay out tips to employees, as that correctly and consistently distributes credit card tips to "on the clock" employees when orders are processed. This report accounts for all DISTRIBUTED gratuity to employees.

Gratuity in Sales Report vs. Tips & Wages Report - why is there sometimes a discrepancy?
The Sales Reports (which also supplies data to 3rd party API systems) accounts for all COLLECTED gratuity from all payments.
Remember: Wages & Tips report accounts for all DISTRIBUTED gratuity to employees.
So why would COLLECTED gratuity not equal DISTRIBUTED gratuity?
This can happen for a variety of reasons:
- No one was on the clock when gratuity was collected (processed before or after all employees were clocked in/out)
- Only TIP Exempt employees were clocked in, so gratuity not distributed.
- One or more employees are still on shift, so the distributed gratuity has not been reported yet (look fro employee that didn't clock out for one or more days. This will severely throw off the numbers!
